If you want to connect a website to Yandex Webmaster but do not know which URL to use, what access is required or who will verify the website, complete the preparation sheet before trying multiple versions. By the end of this article, you will know which address to add, whether the site is accessible, which WordPress/hosting/DNS access is available, who is responsible for the account and which verification method is expected.

The example workflow uses SaibABC.Com, but this is only the series’ example website. This article does not claim that SaibABC.Com has been added to, verified in or supplied with data by Yandex Webmaster.

Target outcome: you have a preparation sheet with enough information for everyone on the team to know which address to add, whom to ask for access and which verification method to start with. This article does not yet explain how to add a website, verify ownership or submit a sitemap.

What should you prepare before you begin?

You need the domain or website name you want to check and the ability to open the website in a browser. If you do not have administrative access, you can still check the URL and record who needs to provide assistance.

  • Official URL: the HTTP/HTTPS protocol and whether the site uses www.
  • Accessibility: the homepage and one publicly accessible content page open without requiring a login.
  • Access currently available: WordPress, hosting or DNS access; do not mark access as available if it has not been granted.
  • Responsible account: the person or organization that will retain primary management access in Yandex.
  • Expected verification method: a meta tag, HTML file or DNS TXT record, depending on the access actually available.
  • Sitemap information: record the actual sitemap URL if it has been checked; otherwise, clearly state that it has not yet been determined.

Yandex requires the address you add to match the version of the website you want to manage, including the protocol and the www prefix, if applicable. Therefore, https://example.com and https://www.example.com may be treated as different addresses (according to Yandex Webmaster: www.yandex.com).

Confirm the official URL from the final address

Check it in a browser rather than relying on memory or an old document.

  1. Open a private browsing window.
  2. Enter the version you normally use, such as https://example.com or https://www.example.com.
  3. Wait for the page to finish loading and look at the address bar. Record the final address, not just the address you entered.
  4. If you are unsure, try the HTTP/HTTPS and with/without wwwvariants.
  5. Compare the result with the website administrator if the versions redirect differently or do not redirect.

Expected result: you have one URL to use in the next step. If you cannot determine the official version, write “Not yet confirmed” and do not change the URL, DNS or redirect configuration yourself.

ItemInformation to enterChecked?
Official URL[URL chính thức của website][ ]
ProtocolHTTP / HTTPS[ ]
Prefixwww / no www[ ]
Date checked[ngày, tháng, năm][ ]

For SaibABC.Com, leave the placeholder [URL chính thức của website] until the actual address has been checked. Do not turn the sample website name into a URL that has already been verified.

Check whether the website is publicly accessible

Yandex states that the server must respond to the Yandex bot and the Yandex Webmaster bot with an HTTP 200 OK, or redirect them to a final page that returns 200 OK, for the website to be added to the service (according to Yandex Webmaster: yandex.com).

At the preparation stage, you do not need to analyze server logs. Use a private-browsing window to check the following basic indicators:

  • The homepage opens without requiring a login.
  • A publicly accessible post or page opens from an internal link.
  • The website does not display a maintenance page, require a password, or show a serious certificate warning.
  • The final address after redirection still belongs to the website you manage.
  • The website is not temporarily restricted to your office IP address or your account by a security layer.

If the homepage or a content page does not open, record Not ready — website check required and stop here. Do not change the DNS or URL just to follow the example.

Match your permissions to the verification method

Mark the permissions you have at the time of checking. Permission to publish posts does not automatically mean that you can edit code, upload files, or change DNS records.

Where the action is performedWhat capability is required?Potentially suitable methodStatus
WordPressLog in to the administration area and edit the exact location required by the method.Meta tag or CMS/plugin integration, if supported by the current interface.[Có / Không / Cần nhờ]
Hosting or serverPlace the verification file in the document root and make it publicly accessible.HTML file.[Có / Không / Cần nhờ]
DNS providerCreate or edit the domain’s TXT record.DNS TXT record.[Có / Không / Cần nhờ]
Yandex accountSign in to the account that will manage the website and know how to recover the account.Owner or primary administrator.[Có / Chưa có]

The Administrator role usually has broad administrative permissions on a single WordPress website, but a website may use custom roles. Check the actual permissions in the website instead of relying only on the role name (according to WordPress.org: wordpress.org).

If you do not have permissions in any of the three areas, record the name or role of the person whose help you need. This is a valid preparation status; you do not need to change the configuration yourself yet.

Choose the intended verification method

Yandex describes common methods such as a meta tag, an HTML file, and a DNS TXT record. You only need to choose one suitable method; you do not need to implement all three at this stage.

SituationMethod to considerWhat to check
You can edit the WordPress header area but do not manage DNSMeta tagWhere will the code be placed, and could the theme or a plugin remove it?
You have access to the document rootHTML fileIs the file in the correct document root, and can it be opened through a public URL?
You manage the domain but do not want to edit WordPressDNS TXT recordWill the record be created with the correct DNS provider for the domain?
You do not have the required permissionsNot selectedContact the website owner, administrator, or hosting provider.

At this stage, record only the intended method and the person who will carry it out. Do not insert code, upload a file, or create a DNS record before Yandex provides the verification code. If you later need to change the configuration, save the existing value before making the change so you can revert it.

Identify who will retain account ownership

Choose the Yandex account of the person or organization responsible for the website over the long term. Technical collaborators may provide support, but do not automatically make them the primary owner if their role may change.

Record the following:

  • The name or role of the person responsible for the primary account.
  • The account-recovery method required by the organization’s procedures.
  • The person with WordPress administrator access.
  • The person with hosting or server access.
  • The person with DNS management access.
  • How access will be transferred when a collaborator leaves.

Do not share passwords. When collaboration is necessary, use the service’s access-management features where appropriate. According to Yandex documentation, after verifying ownership, the owner can grant access to other users; users who receive access cannot grant it to someone else (according to Yandex Webmaster: www.yandex.com).

Sitemap: identify its location only; do not submit it yet

Sitemap: identify its location only; do not submit it yet

For this article, you only need to know where the sitemap is located or who will determine its URL after the website is connected. You do not need to submit the sitemap yet.

A sitemap is a file that lists URLs to provide search engines with additional information about a website’s structure. Yandex supports XML and TXT formats, with XML recommended; a sitemap does not guarantee that every URL in the file will appear in search results (according to Yandex Webmaster: yandex.com).

Enter one of the following two statuses:

  • Identified: [URL sitemap đã kiểm tra]
  • Not identified: you do not yet know which WordPress feature or plugin generates the sitemap; you will check this in the sitemap-submission guide.

Do not assume that every WordPress website uses the same path, and do not create a link from a placeholder.

Readiness checklist before moving on to connection

ItemRequired resultStatus
Official URLHTTP/HTTPS and www/non-www have been finalized.[Đã đạt / Cần xử lý]
AccessibilityThe home page and one public page open in a browser.[Đã đạt / Cần xử lý]
WordPress accessYou know what you can change and who can help if you lack the required access.[Đã đạt / Cần xử lý]
Hosting accessYou know who can place a file in the document root.[Đã đạt / Không cần / Cần hỏi]
DNS accessYou know who can create a TXT record.[Đã đạt / Không cần / Cần hỏi]
Responsible accountThe person who will retain primary ownership has been selected.[Đã đạt / Cần quyết định]
Verification methodSelected based on actual access; not yet implemented.[Đã chọn / Chưa chọn]
SitemapA verified URL is available, or its status is explicitly recorded as not identified.[Đã biết / Chưa biết]

The checklist is complete when another team member can read it and know exactly which address to add, whom to contact for access, and which method to start with. This checklist does not prove that the website has been connected, verified, or indexed.

Common preparation mistakes

Using a familiar URL variant instead of the official version

For example, you may usually enter the address without www but the website redirects to the version with www. Record the address shown after the page finishes loading, and ask the administrator if the official version is unclear.

Assuming a WordPress account is sufficient

The ability to publish posts does not prove that you can edit code, install plugins, or change configuration. Compare your actual access with the planned verification method.

Changing DNS or the URL based on the example

The example in this article is not a request to change an active configuration. If you do not know which version the website uses, record the uncertainty and ask the administrator.

Confusing connection with verification and indexing

Adding a website, verifying ownership, submitting a sitemap, crawling, and indexing are different stages. Registering a website in Yandex Webmaster does not by itself increase the rate at which it is indexed (according to Yandex Webmaster: www.yandex.com).

Exercise: complete the preparation checklist

Copy the template below into your project notes and complete it using verified information:

Tên website: [tên website]
URL chính thức: [URL chính thức của website]
Giao thức: [HTTP/HTTPS]
Tiền tố www: [có/không]
Trang chủ mở công khai: [có/không]
Một URL nội dung công khai: [URL bài viết công khai hoặc chưa có]
Quyền WordPress: [có/không/người hỗ trợ]
Quyền hosting: [có/không/người hỗ trợ]
Quyền DNS: [có/không/người hỗ trợ]
Tài khoản Yandex phụ trách: [người/vai trò]
Phương pháp xác minh dự kiến: [meta/tệp HTML/DNS/chưa chọn]
URL sitemap: [URL sitemap đã kiểm tra/chưa xác định]
Ngày kiểm tra: [ngày, tháng, năm]

Mark the checklist complete when it answers three questions: which address to add, whom to contact, and which verification method to start with. If any item remains “Not identified,” keep that status instead of guessing.

Illustrations for editorial use

If you create the image with AI, use a conceptual illustration such as website → search bot → data → reports. Do not use AI-generated images that pretend to show the Yandex Webmaster, WordPress, or DNS management interface. During editing, you may add legitimately sourced screenshots of the actual interface; images must not be used to claim the real-world status of SaibABC.Com.

Next step

Once the checklist is complete, the next step is to sign in to or create a Yandex ID, open Yandex Webmaster, add the correct URL, and review the verification prompt. This article only prepares the required information; it does not claim that SaibABC.Com or your website has been connected.
