The short answer: open AdSense and check Sites and Policy Center before making changes. Install ads only when the website has the appropriate status, check ads.txt if AdSense requires it, never click your own ads, and check Payments to see what is still outstanding before expecting payment.

This article is for beginners who have submitted an AdSense application or linked AdSense but do not yet know what the notifications mean, why ads have not appeared, or why estimated revenue has not become a payment. Review times and payment requirements may vary by account, payment address, and currency; no step in this article guarantees approval or revenue.

Example SaibABC Blog is only an illustrative project that is expected to be created. This article does not claim that the blog has been created, approved, read by visitors, or generated actual revenue.

Check the status before making changes

Sign in to AdSense and open Sites. Check that you have selected the correct website, its public URL, and the status currently shown on screen. Do not rely solely on an email or on the fact that an ad code has appeared in your account. The status in Sites indicates where you should check next (according to support.google.com).

Status or indicatorWhat it generally indicatesWhat to doHow to check
Requires reviewThe website has not been submitted for review or a review request is required.Complete the requested steps, check the correct URL, and then submit a review request.Record the status after submitting; do not treat submission as approval.
Getting readyThe website or account is still being set up or checked.Read the notification on the AdSense home page, check your payment information, and verify the connection code.Compare the notification in your account with the email; wait for the result instead of repeatedly resubmitting.
Needs attentionThe website has an issue that must be addressed before it is ready.Open the details, identify the cause and scope of the issue, and then fix it.Check the status again after completing the corrective action.
ReadyBased on its current status, the website is eligible to set up ads.Set up Auto ads or an appropriate ad unit.Check the code on the public page and review the layout on both desktop and mobile.
ads.txt: Not foundAdSense has not found the file at the website address.Address this only if the platform and website require it; obtain the line directly from AdSense.Open https://tenmiencuaban.com/ads.txt using the actual domain name and check again in AdSense.
ads.txt: UnauthorizedThe file exists, but the authorized ad seller has not been identified correctly.Compare it with the line provided by AdSense and add the correct line.Wait for the system to crawl the file again, then check the status.

The review process has no fixed deadline. Google’s documentation states that it usually takes a few days, but some cases may take two to four weeks. During this time, review your content, accessibility, rights to use resources, and website information; do not resubmit or make large-scale changes simply because there is no result yet (see support.google.com).

Address feedback based on the cause in Policy Center

If AdSense reports a policy issue or ad-serving limitation, open Policy Center and select the relevant issue. Read the issue name, affected scope, example URLs, and remediation guidance. The URLs listed may be examples only, so do not fix one page and conclude that the entire website is compliant.

  1. Record the notification: note the issue name, website, sample URL, date received, and status.
  2. Classify the cause: content, usage rights, user experience, required information, ad placement, or unusual traffic.
  3. Review similar pages: look for posts that use the same template or type of content.
  4. Fix the issue and keep a log: record exactly what you deleted, added, or changed.
  5. Request a review: submit one only after making the fixes and being able to describe the corrective actions.

An ad-serving limitation is not a signal to increase page views, click your own ads, or ask others to click them. Keep traffic organic, review your traffic sources, and monitor notifications in Policy Center (see support.google.com).

Three common misconceptions

  • Having linked the account does not mean that the website is ready to serve ads.
  • Limited ad serving does not mean that revenue will increase if you buy or generate more traffic.
  • Being rejected does not automatically mean that every post on the blog is wrong; read the specific reason and review the relevant scope.

If you need to review the immediately preceding step, use the following shortcode: How to Sign Up for or Link AdSense to Blogger. This is only a reference to the AdSense registration or linking flow, not evidence that the current account has been approved.

Set up ads when the website is ready

Start only when AdSense shows an appropriate status and all required account steps are complete. Auto ads are a convenient option for beginners: you place a single piece of code on the website and then adjust the formats in AdSense. Button names may vary by interface and language.

Turn on Auto ads

  1. Sign in to AdSense and open Ads.
  2. Select the website that is ready, then select Edit.
  3. Turn on Auto ads.
  4. Preview the layout on desktop and mobile.
  5. Turn off any formats you do not want, especially those that cover content or could easily cause accidental clicks.
  6. Select Apply to site and save, or run an experiment if the interface provides that option.
  7. Check that the AdSense code is present on the pages where you want ads to appear.

Ads may not appear immediately after you save. Google’s documentation states that, when the setup is correct, this can take up to about an hour. Before concluding that the code is faulty, check the website status, the code on the public page, and the URL currently open (see support.google.com).

If you use Blogger’s advertising features

In Blogger, open Layout to view the options for enabling ads between posts or adding an AdSense gadget, depending on the interface. Save your changes, then open the blog in a private window or a browser where you are not signed in. Seeing ads while signed in as an administrator is not enough to confirm that ordinary readers see the same content (see support.google.com).

Check at least the homepage and one post on both mobile and desktop. Read through the content to make sure ads do not cover text, menu buttons, forms, or links; if the layout looks poor, turn off the format you just enabled before trying another configuration.

How to check ads.txt correctly

ads.txt is a publicly accessible file that identifies the parties authorized to sell advertising space on a website. Do not copy the line from a tutorial, screenshot, or another website.

  1. In AdSense, open Sites and select the website showing the error.
  2. Select the option to retrieve the Ads.txt snippet if available.
  3. Copy the complete line provided by AdSense.
google.com, pub-0000000000000000, DIRECT, f08c47fec0942fa0

pub-0000000000000000 is only an example ID. Replace it with your account's actual publisher ID. The file is usually placed in the root directory so that it can be opened at /ads.txt. After updating it, check the public URL and use the recheck option in AdSense. The status change may take several days (according to support.google.com).

Not every website or platform handles ads.txt in the same way. If AdSense displays Not applicable, do not create a file simply because you found a tutorial about it online.

Avoid invalid traffic

Invalid traffic consists of impressions or clicks that do not reflect genuine user interest. Examples include clicking your own ads, asking others to click, buying suspicious traffic sources, or placing ads where users may click them accidentally.

  • Do not click your own ads, even for testing.
  • Do not ask friends, readers, or collaborators to click.
  • Do not buy traffic solely to generate impressions or clicks.
  • Do not make ads look like buttons, links, or primary content.
  • Record the time, URL, and source when you notice an unusual increase in traffic.

If you notice suspicious activity, preserve the data you observed and do not try to make up the revenue with new traffic. Google may limit ad serving or adjust revenue when it detects invalid activity.

Distinguish estimated earnings from payments

Distinguish estimated earnings from payments
TermPractical meaningWhere to check
Estimated earningsEstimated revenue for the period currently being viewed.Reports or the dashboard.
Finalized earningsThe finalized amount for a previous period, which may differ from the initial estimate.Payments or Transactions.
Payment holdA missing requirement that prevents the payment from being issued. The AdSense home page and Payments.
Payment thresholdThe minimum amount required for a payment to be issued; it depends on the account and currency.Payments > Payments info.
Payment sentThe payment has been processed for transfer to the selected payment method.Transactions and your bank.

Estimated earnings may change after Google processes the data, removes invalid activity, or finalizes the period. Therefore, do not use a figure in the current report to conclude that you will receive exactly that amount.

Complete verification and payment requirements

Common steps in the payment process include providing tax information if requested, verifying your identity, verifying your address, selecting a payment method, and reaching the payment threshold. Not every account displays all steps at the same time. The specific threshold depends on your payment address, account type, and currency; rely on the information in Payments rather than using the amount for another country as a reference (according to support.google.com).

Verify your identity and address

  • Use your real name and address, make sure you can receive mail there, and ensure they match the requested information.
  • If identity verification is required, upload the correct type of document according to the instructions currently displayed.
  • When you reach the address-verification threshold, Google may send a six-digit PIN by mail.
  • Do not guess the PIN. Entering it incorrectly too many times or allowing it to expire may affect your ads and payments.

Google’s documentation states that the PIN letter usually takes about three weeks to arrive; you may request a replacement PIN if it does not arrive, and the PIN typically expires four months after it is generated. Prioritize the specific deadline shown in your account (according to support.google.com).

When will the payment be issued?

If your balance reaches the payment threshold by the end of the month, there are no payment holds, and all verification steps are complete, Google states that the payment is generally issued between the 21st and 26th of the month. This is an estimated processing window, not a guaranteed date when the funds will reach your account; your bank and payment method may affect the actual arrival time (according to support.google.com).

Post-installation ad checklist

  • The website in Sites has an appropriate status.
  • No unresolved issues remain in Policy center.
  • The ad code is placed correctly and has not been truncated.
  • The homepage and posts open when you are signed out.
  • Ads do not cover content, menus, forms, or links.
  • The ads.txt status has been checked or confirmed as not applicable.
  • You do not click your own ads, encourage clicks, or buy unsuitable traffic.
  • Your identity, address, tax information, and payment method have been reviewed in Payments.
  • You know whether the figure shown is estimated or finalized revenue.
  • You have recorded the date of the check, changes made, and error messages.

Exercise: Create a tracking table for your website

Create a spreadsheet with the following columns: Check date – Website – Sites status – Policy center issue – ads.txt – Ad status – Estimated revenue – Next step. Enter your website’s actual data. If you do not know something, write not verified; do not enter an approved status, assumed traffic, or hypothetical revenue.

The exercise is complete when you can answer four questions:

  1. What is the website’s current status?
  2. What does the notification require you to fix, where, and across what scope?
  3. Have you checked the ads from a reader’s perspective?
  4. Does the payment process still require verification, a payment method, the threshold, or resolution of a payment hold?

Reverting changes that cause problems

If ads disrupt the layout, disable the format or Auto ads you just enabled and record the previous state. If a change in Blogger causes display problems, restore a backup of the theme or the appropriate setting before trying again. For ads.txt ads.txt, save the previous version before editing it so you can revert the change. If a policy response is unclear, do not submit repeated review requests; keep a log and make changes after identifying the correct cause.

Next step

After AdSense is running, continue keeping a change log, review unusual traffic, check the layout on mobile devices, and secure your Google Account. The outcome of this exercise is a status table and a list of outstanding tasks; use them to decide what to do next operationally instead of looking only at daily revenue.
